<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="1">All Hallows Eve are a couple of perl and shell scripts that bring a spooky animated
feel to your <a href="http://www.beos.com"><font color="#33aa77">BeOS</font></a> desktop. This is my little attempt at bringing animated icons using the funky ability
of attributes!<br>The code is only a couple of lines so changing it to a Python script version would be
very easy indeed - if you want to help please contact <a href="mailto:daikumo@hotmail.com"><font color="#33aa77">me</font></a> or I will
try and hack something together very nasty in the future.<br><br>
The latest version (v0.1a) can be downloaded <a href="http://www.crg.cs.nott.ac.uk/people/Rob.Clarke/BeOS/software/all_hallows_eve_v0.1a.zip"><font color="#33aa77">here</font></a>.</font>

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="1">If you are reading this then you have already
installed it (!) but I will confirm that the folder can be placed anywhere you want
(except on a non BeOS partition!). You need to have
<a href="http://www.bebits.com/app/2171"><font color="#33aa77">Perl</font></a> installed to use the perl scripts, otherwise you can
use the shell scripts or convert to any flavour you like (if you are savvy with scripts).
<br>Well, the scripts are very simple since BeOS stores a file's icon as an	attribute - the
first script shows an example of an animated sequence of 3 icons and the second is a simple two icon script.<br><br>
If you look inside the scripts you will see that the script itself will have it's icon
changed, so if you want to alter this just change the name in the code. Otherwise, you
can create a link from the script file to the desktop and rename that link to something more suitable!

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="1">The simplest way to run a script is to open up a Tracker or MuTerm window and
go to the script folder. Then you can just type the script name to run it.<br>Alternatively, you can put a link to the script
in the UserBootscript, but remember to put the ampersand (&amp;) at the end of the line (i.e. "/boot/home/scripts/script.pl &amp").<br><br>
<b>CPU Warning!</b> By default the scripts sleep for a random amount of time (between 1 and 5 seconds), but the shell script
version takes up a lot of cpu when it calculates the random amount, so it may be better to just use a fixed value (or perl version) instead if
you think your processor is being used too much!<br>
Also, if you use a tiled background for your window you may see a bit of flicker as the background is completely redrawn
before the new icon is shown...
